Race 1[edit]

At the start Vidales did not react quickly, but still managed to keep first position, while Paul Aron lost out and got overtaken by Alex Quinn and Hadrien David. By the end of the first lap these four were followed up by Grégoire Saucy, William Alatalo, Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto, who had climbed up four positions, having started twelfth. On lap two Marinangeli spun and got stranded in the gravel at Tamburello, while Brad Benavides went off at Acque Minerali. The safety car was sent out on track as a result.

Vidales had a good restart and maintained his lead, followed by Quinn, who initially lost some ground but managed to close up into Vidales' slipstream in the following laps. Tommy Smith went off after 19 minutes of the race, after having put his car's right rear wheel on the grass and hitting the wall, so the safety car came out once again to neutralise proceedings.

After the second restart Vidales managed to gain some distance from Quinn, while the positions behind remained unchanged with David, Aron, Saucy, Alatalo and Hadjar. On lap 13 Kas Haverkort collided with Patrik Pasma, who touched him from behind, at Piratella. Haverkort was forced to retire, and as a result Pasma was set back three positions on the starting grid of race two by the stewards.

The race finished under the safety car on lap 16, with Vidales winning the first race of the season, followed by Quinn and David. First of the rookies and seventh overall was Isack Hadjar.[2]

Race 2[edit]

As in race one, second wasn’t the best starting position on the grid, as Hadrien David struggled off the line. Aron and Maloney were both able to pass the R-ace GP driver and battled for second as Saucy built a gap at the front of the field. The chasing pack was brought back onto the tail of Saucy when an off for Jasin Ferati brought out the Safety car at the end of the second lap.

Saucy got a good restart, again breaking free of Aron as Dino Beganovic put pressure on Maloney for third. Maloney shook off Beganovic, who fell into a battle with Alex Quinn. Beganovic and Quinn ran side by side for a number of corners before a lock-up for Beganovic caused contact at Piratella. Quinn was spun around and brought out the safety car, while Beganovic was able to return to the pits.

Aron tried to stick with Saucy when racing resumed with nine minutes remaining, but Saucy put in a faultless drive and extended the gap to more than a second before the chequered flag.

Maloney had a relatively quiet end to the race, coming in third on his second start in the Formula Regional European Championship.

David recovered to fourth ahead of William Alatalo and the best-placed rookie Gabriele Minì. After having run wide early on, Saturday's winner David Vidales finished seventh, and also put in the fastest lap of the race on the penultimate lap. Mari Boya held off Oliver Goethe to take eighth and Elias Seppänen completed the top 10.[3]
