Agnimitra Paul is an Indian fashion designer and politician primarily based in Calcutta and also works actively in the Bollywood industry. She is the President of BJP Mahila Morcha West Bengal

Personal life[edit]

Paul was born in Asansol, West Bengal, India in a family of doctors and academicians[1] and is married to Partho Paul, an industrialist.[2]

She received her MBA from Jadavpur University and a Diploma in Fashion from the Fashion School of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts & Management Sciences.

Career in Fashion[edit]

Paul started her fashion career in 2001–02. She designed Bollywood superstar Sridevi's personal wardrobe. She later designing costumes for the film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche where she designed for actress Esha Deol. In 2008, Paul designed costumes for the film Via Darjeeling which included Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Parvin Dabas and Vinay Pathak. She has also designed clothes for actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta, Jeet, Koel Mallick, Swastika Mukherjee and Mauli Ganguly. In 2015 she designed for Naxal (film).

Paul in 2013 designed for the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013.[3]

Paul also has her own fashion label INGA which retails in stores of major cities across India.[4]

Political Career[edit]

Paul entered into politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 March 2019.[5][6]

Paul took charge as President of BJP Mahila Morcha, West Bengal in June 2020, becoming a senior office-bearer just over a year after her joint the BJP.[7] She started a workshop called Uma to give self-defence training to the women in all 23 districts of the West Bengal.[8]
