Alex Albert is an American drummer, who primarily plays hard rock and metalcore. Albert was the drummer for Innermeans, Project 86,[3] and Crash Rickshaw and is currently the drummer for Focused and the Lost Chorus. He also played on The Brothers Martin's self titled album and Starflyer 59's Ghost of the Past.
History[edit]
Albert started his musical career in the Christian metalcore band, Innermeans. The band consisted of Sean Stopnik (guitar), Steven Dail (guitar), and Timothy Clark (Bass), who had all previously played in the Christian hardcore band, Bloodshed and Vocalist Alfred "RED" Pedroza. Innermeans disbanded in 1997.[2]
Albert joined Project 86 in 1996 after original Bassist Matt "Bean" Hernandez (Unashamed, The Dingees) quit the band and original drummer Ethan Luck moved to Bass. Luck left soon after, and was replaced by Steven Dail who had previously played with Albert in Innermeans.
The band recorded and released their debut self-titled album in 1998. The band released their highly acclaimed sophomore album in 2000, which was titled Drawing Black Lines. In the meantime, Albert was also playing in Crash Rickshaw, a Christian punk side project of the band, which consisted of Dail, Randy Torres both of P86, and friend Joby Harris.[4]
Crash Rickshaw released their debut self titled album in 2001 on Tooth & Nail Records, which P86 was also signed to. Project 86 released their third album, Truthless Heroes in 2002 via Tooth and Nail and Atlantic Records.
In late 2003, mid 2004, Project 86 released their fourth record by the title of Songs to Burn Your Bridges By. In 2006, Project 86 released their fifth, and Albert's final release with band, ...And the Rest Will Follow. Albert left Project 86 in March 2007[5] and was replaced by Jason Gerken (Shiner, Open Hand).[6] He did 25 tours with the band before leaving.[7]
In the time Albert had left Project 86, Crash Rickshaw recorded and released their second release, The Unknown Clarity in 2007. After the release the band has been on hiatus, and the members have moved on to other projects (White Lighter, NYVES).
In 2009, the Christian hardcore Focused reunited along with The Crucified and Living Sacrifice, for a tour with Demon Hunter, 7 Horns 7 Eyes, The Great Commission, Faith Snakes, Throwdown, and Heiress called the "Huntour".[8] The band hired Albert to play drums and he is currently their drummer.
Around 2009, Albert started a band with fellow Tooth & Nail Records alumni Andy Zipf, Ryan Denee (Stavesacre), and Dirk Lemmenes (Stavesacre, Focused), called The Lost Chorus.[9]
