"Ali Bomaye" is a song by American rapper The Game, featured as the second track from his fifth studio album Jesus Piece. The song features fellow rappers 2 Chainz and Rick Ross, and includes samples from "Seven Devils" by Florence and the Machine.[1]
Background[edit]
The phrase "Ali Bomaye" was popularized during the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The crowd chanted "Ali Bomaye," which means "Ali, kill him!" in Lingala.[2] The Game was inspired by this chant for the chorus of the track.[3]
Music video[edit]
The music video for "Ali Bomaye" was shot in January 2013 with Rick Ross, and later with 2 Chainz in Los Angeles in February 2013.[4] The final video, released on July 2, 2013, features appearances from French Montana, DJ Khaled, and Chris Brown.[5]
Critical reception[edit]
