Amber Van Day (born May 1, 1996), is a British singer and songwriter[1] best known for her singles WTF (with HUGEL) and Kids in the Corner.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Amber Van Day is a daughter of a British singer David Van Day, who was a part of a popular duo Dollar in 80s. She started writing songs and singing in choirs/bands/theatre when she was about 7 or 8[3]. Amber came to people's attention mainly thanks to her collaboration with HUGEL, and their song WTF, which was the soundtrack to the 2019 German edition of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and which currently has more than 77 million streams on Spotify, and has also won several gold awards.[4]

Career[edit]

Amber's career began in 2015 when she co-recorded her first title, Act No Good, with George Kwalli. She remained silent for a few years, but at the end of 2018 she recorded the title WTF together with HUGEL. In May 2019, she recorded another song Mamma Mia again with HUGEL. In July 2019, she recorded Oblivion together with the group Love Harder, which is also her second most successful title as it currently has more than 30 million streams on Spotify. In October 2019, she recorded I don't wanna talk once again with HUGEL. In 2019, 7.6 million people from 79 countries listened to her songs on Spotify a total of 54.6 million times, for a total of 2.3 million hours[5]. In February 2020, her song WTF won two gold awards. In April 2020, she recorded her first debut solo single Kids in the Corner, which became popular in January 2021, as it's part of the soundtrack of the netflix series Fate: The Winx Saga[6]. In July 2020, Amber recorded Papa together with the German DJ and producer duo YouNotUs[7].
