Ananya Kamboj from Chandigarh, selected by Mission XI Million,[1] represented India as a young journalist at the global Football for Friendship (F4F) social programme in St. Petersburg, Russia. Mission XI Million (MXIM) is an initiative spearheaded by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and All India Football Federation (AIFF) and supported by the Government of India. Mission XI Million is India’s largest school contact programme that aims to make football[2] the sport of choice among India's youth. The ambitious program intends to reach out to 11 million school kids in the lead-up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.[3]

The Football for Friendship (F4F) international children’s social project is implemented by Gazprom since 2013. The project unites children of different nationalities, different sexes, different physical abilities. Friendship, peace and equality are the key values promoted by participants of the Football for Friendship.[4] The goal of the project is the development of children’s football, fostering tolerance and respect for different cultures and nationalities among children from different countries. The key values that the participants support and promote are friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions, and honor.

Goethe-Institut, New Delhi had organized a youth camp in Goa from 3 November 2017 to 8 November 2017 at Bogmallo Beach Resort in Goa. Ananya got an opportunity to participate in this programme. A number of workshops were conducted which further enhanced the German language skills.

Apart from learning the language, she interacted and shared cultural experiences with students from different countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Iran. She attended German classes and various workshops like Lichtmalerei (light painting photography). Besides learning, she enjoyed sightseeing, swimming, beach game, etc. It was a wonderful experience and exposure for the German students.

In February 2018, Ananya Kamboj was again invited to participate in the sixth season of the Football for Friendship (F4F) Open Draw[5] that was held in Moscow on 15 February 2018 along with five other Young Ambassadors - Zahar Badyuk from Russia, Runqi Cui from China, Juan Manuel Pinola Silveira from Uruguay, Lilya Matsumoto from Japan, and Christopher Sowah Mensah from Ghana. Gazprom Football for Friendship 2018 will unite kids from 211 countries and regions.[6] F4F is the International Children's Social programme implemented by Gazprom company - official partner of FIFA and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

In June 2018 she was again invited to Moscow as a special guest at the world premiere of her book - My Journey from Mohali to St. Petersburg[7], an anthology of twenty-one stories. These stories are based on the fundamental human values that she has learned in the programme. It is a wonderful platform to celebrate peace and friendship through the unifying power of football.

The book was officially released by Viktor Zubkov[8], Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors as part of the Football for Friendship 2018 international children’s social programme organized by Gazprom, an official partner of FIFA and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
