Anjum James Paul (born 12 September 1968) is a Pakistani teacher, researcher, human rights defender, and documentary filmmaker. He is serving as the Assistant Professor and Head of the Political Science Department at Government Postgraduate College in Faisalabad Punjab.

Education and family life[edit]
He was born in Multan and raised in Khushab and Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. He got his early education at St. Jude Primary School, Rangpur, district Khushab, and completed his secondary education at Govt. St. Thomas High School, Khushpur, district Faisalabad, which was nationalized by the Government of Pakistan in 1972. He earned a master's degree in Political Science from Islamia University, Bahawalpur and a Postgraduate degree in International Affairs from the University of the Punjab, Lahore. He completed his B.Ed. from from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan and M.Ed. from Allam Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. He is married to a teacher, Firdous Younas, and has a daughter and two sons namely; Takveen Mary, Daniel and Shehryar.[1]
Career[edit]
He has been making efforts to build a society where all citizens of Pakistan enjoy equal rights and opportunities without any distinction. He has been associated with several campaigns for the cause of peacebuilding and religious freedom, and has been engaged in efforts for conflict resolution among diverse communities, and involved in research and advocacy initiatives concerning discrimination and violence on the basis of religion.[2]
He has been a member of various committees of the Punjab Curriculum and Textbooks Board, formed to review the textbooks being used in Punjab province. He has carried out the research-based analysis of public school textbooks and has produced several reports to highlight the issues relating to the content of books that remained part of the public schools in different provinces of Pakistan.[3][4] He has also authored several chapters on human rights and the role of minorities in the development of Pakistan, which was made part of public textbooks.
He has been involved in building capacity of the students, teachers and human rights activists on the implementation of religious freedom, the inclusive and equitable education, and conflict resolution and peace coexistence in Pakistan. He is vocal on highlighting issues relating to the discrimination against religious minorities in the Constitution, laws and textbooks in Pakistan,[5][6] and has been raising voice for the introduction of amendment in the Child Marriage Restraint act to make 18 years the legal minimum marriage age for both male and female, couple to be.[7] He has been the advocate of ending child labour, and providing free and compulsory education for children till reaching the age of 18 years.[8]
