AbdulSammir Ayodele Hamman (born 23 January), known commonly as, ASH is a Nigerian-born singer-songwriter and serial entrepreneur. He is from Borno State but was born and raised in Lagos, US, United Kingdom and UAE.[1]. His mother is a successful businesswoman and proprietress, while his father Abubakar Sadiq Hamman is a gallant retired soldier in the Nigerian Army. ASH studied Digital film production at the SAE Institute and also studied Audio Engineering at IMW International music workshop in London. The passion and skill to entertain profitably were evident in ASH at a very young age. This is because at every birthday party of his contemporaries he attended and participated in the dancing competition, he always won the prize as the best dancer. ASH entered the music industry in 2003 with the booker T revamp of his club smash “Bounce 2 This”, which ranked among the top 20 songs on the National Chart whilst retaining the number 1 spot on the UK Garage and club[1]. ASH performed at the Miss World beauty pageant contest during the grand finale at the Alexander Palace in London with over 750 million viewers around the world[1]. During his school years, his flair for entertainment was not hidden, especially singing, as he took part in school plays, dance competitions and concerts winning numerous awards along the way.
Early life

As an infant, Ash Hamman would wake up every night as the clock hit 11:45 pm to rise from his crib and do a little dance. Ash Hamman’s mother was surprised at his son’s actions every night and it became clear to her that her son had caught the music bug. The late-night “two-steppings” would be the beginning of Ash Hamman’s musical career.
Musical style
Influence
Ash Hamman says he is inspired to sing because of the passion he has for music. In his words, “it goes back to the traditional concept where you just write. Then I realize everyone is talking about a specific thing and I pick the track that makes sense”. Ash has a lot of old-school inspirations, from Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Michael Jackson, Boyz 2 Men, Quincy Jones to Queen. He likes the Miguels and Usher and P.Diddy for the business sense he applies to everything he does[2]. Ash Hamman won a lot of competitions because he was able to dance like Michael Jackson
Process
Ash Hamman describes his music process as organic. He says being organic sometimes makes you sound old-school and it's important to understand what is trending in our environment and adapt accordingly as an artist in order to remain relevant.
