Awave is an indie/alternative rock/pop band from Italy.

Biography[edit]

Awave is a wave of electro pop and post rock vibes started in 2019 by Federico Serio, Federico Luzi and Stefano Ianni. They took their first steps in rock music, exploring different areas of metal, progressive and post-rock, getting inspired by bands like Tool, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, until they reached a new guideline more oriented towards pop music and bands like Placebo, Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots.

On 2019 Awave has recorded, mixed and mastered a mini EP of 3 songs and the single "Walking" at Alti Records (Italy) out on 20th January 2020. The band has also started a collaboration with the music agency Sfera Cubica. In June 2020 the band signed a deal with the record label Angapp Music and has published the first EP 'Awave' via Sfera Music.

Awave is formed by three musicians with three different but interconnected experiences, both in life and in the music.

"We have always worked in artistic or social fields like photography, video making, cultural events and music, playing and testing various musical genres until we found our personal sound". Now they are working on 11 new songs and preparing an original form for playing live using loop station, synth, sequences and pad, combined with classic electro acoustic instruments.

Style[edit]

"Un rock elettronico sulla falsariga di quello inglese degli anni Dieci –penso a gruppi come The Killers o gli ultimi White Lies, privati però dei richiami indie e post-punk-, che riesce ad essere particolarmente orecchiabile e accattivante grazie ad una curata produzione di stampo pop"[1]

"Awave: pellegrini in un modo dream-pop"[2]

Name[edit]

"A sail! A veil awave upon the waves" (Ulysses by James Joice)[3]
