Awoken is a Persian heavy metal band from Tehran. Founded by Band's leader Amir Mohebbi, the band lineup is Amirhossein Mohebbi (Lead vocals, Rhythm guitar) and Amin Kazemi (Drums) and Kian Marashi (Lead guitar) and Arian Rashidi (Bass). Awoken started their path in the music scene back in the late 2010s when founded in 2019,the band did not release any music until the very first day of 2021 by releasing their debut in the form of an EP called "Daydreaming". Awoken later remastered the track "Pulse" from "Daydreaming" under the name "Pulse Remastered", adding a new guitar and a guitar solo, releasing it in July 19 celebrating Daydreaming's 200th day since its release. Awoken is currently working on their new single project called "The Anomaly" which focuses on a message of unity in form of a musical track; while working with various environmental groups (Yet to be announced), the goal of "The Anomaly" is to share an awareness of the disastrous acts of destruction of man and its impact on our daily life; how our very selves have become an anomaly in this world and only through unity we can put an end to it and show how various groups around the globe act against this plague and how there is still a chance for our Earth. "The Anomaly" is set to be released with a music video in a yet to be announced date in 2022.[1]
Early days[edit]
Awoken was formed in spring days of Tehran, Iran by Amirhossein Mohebbi, aging only 17. The band's drummer Amin also joined Awoken later on and together they started on developing plans for the future of the band. As Awoken is based in Iran, the band has limited allowance to work and be active in Metal and Rock genre, so the release process of music was hardly limited in the early days and Awoken spent the first year and half working on their Project called "Daydreaming".[2]
Daydreaming[edit]
In spring of 2020 when COVID-19 was spreading around the globe and everyone was quarantined, Amir teamed up with Sasasn Janzadeh, a friend of his, to work an a song later to be named Daydreaming. In May 25 a short demo of the song was released and Amir announced that the project evolved into a five track EP (Later to be six tracks in total) and will be released in an unknown date in future. Finally released in the first day of the year of 2021, "Daydreaming" EP was released and contained six tracks which were:
- Earthian Tree
- Epiphany
- Daydreaming
- Resonance
- Pulse
- Rewind
The album was composed and mixed by Sasan Janzadeh and produced by Amirhossein Mohebbi, Kian Marashi and Amin Kazemi. The album was not recorded in a studio and was home made. A physical edition of the album was also released, only 30 Disks and signed posters. The album had a vast amount of genres in it; from Neo-Classical to Alternative Rock and Tribal. The album's total length is 19:19.[3]
Pulse remastered[edit]
200 days after its original release, Awoken released a remastered version of "Pulse" and delivered a heavier vibe with added guitars and solo.[4]
Live show[edit]
Awoken had their first live show in the amphitheater of the "University of Tehran", performing in front of over 100 people. The setlist included "Pulse Remastered", the intro of "Flying Whales" by Gojira, and their unreleased track "The Anomaly".[5]
