Lê Gia Huy (born 28 February 2004), also known as BÔN or bonpaul, is a Vietnamese Music Producer based in Ho Chi Minh City.[1].
Biography[edit]
BÔN was born on 28 February 2004 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At the age of five, his parents sent him to a piano class since then he started to learn piano skills and musical theories. Being raised in the musical environment, BÔN found interest in making melodies and composing songs, a hobby that has driven him deeper into learning more about music writing and composing. In 2017 - the era of Electronic/Dance music, being inspired by the top EDM songs from Martin Garrix, Avicii and Alan Walker, BÔN had decided to teach himself music production by watching tutorials from Youtube.
Music Career[edit]
In the beginning, he chose the Vietnamese stage name BÔN because it is his childhood given name and he wanted people to recognize him as a Vietnamese producer when they see the alias. It's a quite special name so he has experienced some problems with the streaming platforms since they display his stage name as Bon instead of BÔN. It also causes some trouble for foreign listeners to search his profiles properly. That's why he mainly uses bonpaul as a username on social media.
2018[edit]
BÔN started producing unofficial remixes of popular songs and posted them on his Soundcloud[2] and Youtube channel[3]. After that, he received positive feedback and promotions from the top Vietnamese music channels such as Hoa Hồng Dại Music[4] and DZUS records[5].
In December, BÔN was invited to work on an official remix for "Huỳnh Ngọc Ny - Yêu Anh Đến Hơi Thở Cuối Cùng"[6] with one of the top Vietnamese R&B producers VRT.
Unexpectedly, his unofficial remix for Kay Trần, Nguyễn Khoa, Duck V & Homieboiz - Tet Dong Day has reached over 3 million plays[7] on Soundcloud.
2019[edit]
In September, BÔN signed and released his first professional single "Anata Wa"[8] via UNLMTD (a division of Diversity Recordings[9]).
After that, BÔN has stopped making remixes to focus on producing good, quality original mixes which have given him an opportunity to appear on top-tier and quality record labels based in Vietnam such as Diversity[9], UXN[10], and RioX[11].
2020[edit]
It marked a boom year for BÔN, as "If You Love Me"[12], "Full Control"[13] and "All I Want"[14] were added to Spotify's Electro Mix[15], bringing his music way closer to audiences from around the world as well as giving him over 200 thousand streams on Spotify.
In particular, "If You Love Me" has received over 170 thousand streams[16], and "Full Control" has received over 107 thousand streams on Spotify[17]
2021[edit]
In April, BÔN released his first Bass house track called "Too Hot"[18] via Diversity Recordings, which has received over 70 thousand streams[19] on Spotify.
At the end of September, BÔN released his first original-vocal single "Heartbreaker".[20] featuring Sofuu, a songwriter/singer from the US, via Timeless Isle[21] (a record label based in the UK). "Heartbreaker" has received positive feedback from Vietnamese top DJs/Producers such as Double Noize and Vinjaz; received big promotions from Diversity[22] and StarlingEDM. It's also featured in Spotify's Editorial playlist "Electro Mix"[15] [23]and "電音新浪潮"[24][23]
