Böglyftet

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Böglyftet (

) is a Swedish Internet meme from 2008 featuring a topless man lifting a naked man, seemingly by the root of the penis.

Origin of the image[edit]

The image depicts two men; the first, bare chested, man lifting the second, nude, man by holding him by his shoulder and erect penis.[1] The photograph was taken by the girlfriend of one of the men in the picture using a pink Nikon Coolpix.[2] The photograph was later uploaded to the now defunct photography forum Bilddagboken.[3]

Flashback forum[edit]

On 5 May 2008, a thread was created on the Swedish internet forum Flashback to discuss the story behind the photograph.[4] The thread not only discussed the story behind the image but also spawned fan art and songs about the image, and grew to several hundred pages of discussion.[5] The thread has since been tagged as a classic thread, one of only fourteen threads with that tag.[6] The thread has been described as a classic[7] and legendary[3] thread in media.

Media attention[edit]

In September 2020, the Swedish podcast "Flashback forever" announced that they would produce a christmas calendar dedicated to Böglyftet.[1][8] Over 24 episodes, the podcast conducts interviews with urologists, psychologists, sexologists and other experts to find out more about the photo.[3] The physical calendar to go along with the podcast sold over 11,000 copies.[1]

Following the media attention to the calendar, the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights posted a "böglyftsguide" (

) on their Instagram page.[9]
