Barn Jams, Volume I is a live release by John Spignesi and longtime collaborator Christopher Andrews. It is their first release together and Spignesi's first release outside of Off The Dome and John Spignesi Band.
The Rock & Roll Circus[edit]
While Spignesi and Andrews perform in Max Creek tribute, Something is Forming together, their schedules often don't line up to perform in any other projects. When the two actually do have time, they enjoy collaborating with various musicians in and outside of the state of Connecticut. Andrews came up with the idea to dub the "band" The Rock & Roll Circus due to the fun and easy going nature of the shows.
Recording/Release[edit]
Spignesi had been listening to various Jazz improvisational groups and approached Andrews with the idea of performing an entire set of improvisational music. Alongside JSB bassist, Joe Jeffery, the two recruited Keyboardist Steve Provost (Jeremiah Hazed/Something is Forming) and Percussionist Ryan Lizotte. The group performed in Andrews' Barn at Hurricane Farm in Scotland, CT. Live mixing was done by longtime Desert Rain Soundman, Andy Rock. Jeffery then mixed the tracks and sent them to Spignesi for distribution. The five song instrumental EP was released on January 15, 2021.
