Barueri (CPTM)
Barueri is a train station, belonging to ViaMobilidade Line 8-Diamond, located in the municipality of Barueri, Brazil.[1]
History
Barueri station opened alongside the Trunk Line on July 10, 1875, and was one of its first stations. With the growth of passenger and freight traffic, the small Barueri station became cramped and was replaced by a new building, opened in 1926, during the railway's widening and straightening.[1]
On April 20, 2021, the ViaMobilidade consortium, composed of the companies CCR (now Motiva) and RUASinvest, was awarded a thirty-year concession to operate the line. The concession contract was signed, and the line was transferred on January 27, 2022.[2]
In 2023, the station was used as a boarding point for express trains heading to the Autódromo Station on Line 9-Emerald, serving the public entering the Interlagos Racetrack to watch the first edition of The Town Festival, making a single stop at Pinheiros Station, also on Line 9-Emerald.[3] The scheme is similar to what occurs at Pinheiros Station itself, when large events are held at the Racetrack. This modality was repeated in the 2025 edition, this time heading to Cidade Dutra Station, which was provisionally reactivated by ViaMobilidade, after having been without passengers for 30 years, and is located a few meters from the Autódromo Station.[4]
