Santa Rita is a train station, belonging to ViaMobilidade Line 8-Diamond operational extension, located in the municipality of Itapevi, Brazil.[1]

History

Santa Rita Stop was opened by Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana in the 1950s, serving as transport for residents of the homonymous neighborhood and workers at the Fábrica de Cimento Santa Rita (Cimenrita). Santa Rita received new facilities on June 21, 1985, during the modernization of the suburban train system carried out by FEPASA in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1997, its ticket office was deactivated by CPTM, due to constant robberies. Currently, it is part of the Itapevi–Amador Bueno operational extension.[1][2][3]

It was demolished in August 2010, to begin work on straightening roads and modernizing the section between Itapevi and Amador Bueno. During the works, the station's location was relocated a few hundred meters to the east. It was reopened in April 2014, together with Amador Bueno.[4][5]

On April 20, 2021, the ViaMobilidade consortium, composed of the companies CCR (now Motiva) and RUASinvest, was awarded a thirty-year concession to operate the line. The concession contract was signed, and the line was transferred on January 27, 2022.[6]
