Jandira is a train station, belonging to ViaMobilidade Line 8-Diamond, located in the municipality of Jandira, Brazil.[1]
History
In March 1925, the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana (EFS) installed a stop for loading firewood at kilometer 32, on land donated by Henrique Sammartino, one of the founders of the municipality.[2] On September 5, 1930, the Quilômetro 32 stop was renamed Jandyra by Henrique Sammartino (who donated land for its construction), in honor of his niece. The Jandyra Stop had its new facilities inaugurated on March 20, 1931.[3] The station consisted of a small office and a freight car, used as a ticket office. With the growth of the location, elevated to the Cotia subdistrict, the facilities became cramped and unable to meet demand.[1]
On April 20, 2021, the ViaMobilidade consortium, composed of the companies CCR (now Motiva) and RUASinvest, was awarded a thirty-year concession to operate the line. The concession contract was signed, and the line was transferred on January 27, 2022.[4]
