Belagere Krishna Shastri (22 May 1918 - 23 March 2013) was a renowned Indian writer, educator, Gandhian thinker, and spiritual seeker. He was celebrated for his contributions to Kannada literature and for his dedication to education and social work in Karnataka.

Career[edit]

Shastri's career was distinguished by his work in the education sector, particularly in the North Karnataka region, where he was instrumental in building and working in several government schools. His efforts were focused on involving villagers in the educational development of their communities. Besides his educational work, Shastri was also the founder of Shree Sharada Mandira Educational Institution in Belagere, Challakere, Chitradurga.

Awards[edit]

In acknowledgment of his significant contributions to education and literature, Shastri was honored with the Rajyotsava Prashasti by the Karnataka state government in 2004.[1] This award is one of the highest honors in Karnataka, recognizing individuals for their outstanding contribution to the state.

Notable works[edit]

Shastri was a prolific writer with several popular books to his name. One of his most notable works, Yegdagella Aithe (Everything is there in Yoga),[2] explores the miracles performed by his mentor Mukundooru Swamiji and reflects Shastri's deep spiritual insights and beliefs in the universal principles of yoga.
