Ben Danaher (born 1984) is an American singer and songwriter. His music blends country and Americana styles.[1] His first album Still Feel Lucky released in September 2018.
Early life[edit]
Benjamin "Ben" Danaher was born on April 28, 1984 in Huffman, Texas. His father, Bob Danaher, was a musician and contributed to Danaher's love of music at a young age.[2] He refers to his family as his "first musical inspirations".[3]
Music[edit]
Danaher began in Texas, playing about 200 shows a year with three other band members.[4] In 2010 he bought his own touring van, a 2007 Chevy Express, which Danaher describes as part of his dream as a touring musician.[5] Drawing on the influence of artists such as Guy Clark, Danaher continued to make a name for himself as a songwriter in Texas before transitioning to Nashville.[6] There, Danaher continued to work hard at a variety of side jobs while pursuing his music and writing songs.[7] In 2018 he played the Black Deer festival in the UK, along with Jason Isbell and Iron & Wine.[8] His latest album Still Feel Lucky includes several co-writers, including Marren Morris.[9]
Personal Life[edit]
On May 1, 2010, Danaher's brother, Kelly Danaher was shot and killed outside his home in Huffman, Texas by his neighbor Raul Rodriguez.[10] Danaher's father died of cancer two years later.[11] The songwriter cites both of these events as sources of inspiration for his 2018 album, Still Feel Lucky.[12] Danaher moved Nashville, Tennessee in 2013, where he currently resides.[13]
