Shubgali people
The Shubgali people (Kamkata-vari: شُبْگَلي) are a Nuristani ethnic group found in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.[1][2] They speak the Kamkata-vari language and are predominantly Muslims.[3]
Demographics[edit]
The Shubgali people are found in the Gabor, Langoor Butt, Bamboret and Ambore valley's of Chitral District in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.[4][5] They speak various dialects of Kamkata-vari language and are predominantly Muslims.[3]
History[edit]
The Shubgali people moved to different valleys of Chitral in the last decade of nineteenth century, they migrated from the Nuristan region of Afghanistan due to Ameer Abdur Rehman Khan's forced conversions to Islam. In 1926, they embraced Islam.[6] The women in their families work while men love gossip and sports. There was a time when they were known for their skill in arrow shooting.[3][7]
