Established in New York City, Boyy is the brainchild of Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman.[2] Without formal backgrounds in fashion, business, or design, the founders approached the creation of Boyy driven by creativity and ambition. Wannasiri Kongman, who moved to the United States in 1999 with a degree in Journalism, and Jesse Dorsey, a former musician, DJ, and producer from Montreal, met in 2004. Their shared vision for the brand led to its establishment and subsequent relocation to Milan and Bangkok, incorporating influences from each city into the brand’s identity.[3]

The brand's early recognition was partly due to its innovative design approach, notably with the introduction of the Wonton 20 Balloon handbag, inspired by puffer jacket aesthetics. This design philosophy, focusing on minimalism and functionality, played a crucial role in BOYY's positioning within the luxury fashion market.
