Maninder Kalyan (born 5 July 1988) better known as Byg Byrd, is an Indo-Canadian music producer, music composer and performer.He start his Carrer with "100" by French Montana in year 2012 and got his Punjabi break through from song "So High" by Sidhu Moose Wala. He also work with Diljit Dosanjh,Jazzy b,Ninja,Babbal Rai,Rajvir Jawanda,Jasmine Sandlas,Gitaz Bindrakhia etc.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
Early life[edit]
Byrd is native of Canada.He was born in a Sikh family to father Manmohan Singh Kalyan and mother Manjit Kaur Kalyan.He was raised in Toronto,Canada.He studied at Sherdian College and later went to Conestoga College and graduated in architectural technology. At the age of 17 he began on his musical journey by making hip hop beats, John C. Maxwell said that a wise "person learns from his mistakes" and a wiser one "learns from others' mistakes," By following the same dialect, the byrd was perfected in this job and he began to learn from his mistakes.At this time Byrd was hooked up with Sunny Malton, introduced to him by his best friend.Byg Byrd started his career in early 2012 and produced music for French Montana[11], Kevin Gates, Lil Kim,Chinx Drugz[12] and Peter Jackson [13].Being brought up in a Punjabi household, Byrd always appreciated Punjabi music and decided to explore the Punjabi music industry as well. Musical Influences: Dipset (Diplomats), Cam'Ron, Juelz Santana, French Montana, Chinx, Meek Mill, Future, Kuldeep Manak, Chamkila,Jazzy B etc.In 2014 Byrd and Malton raised the idea to create a record name 'Brown Boys Record' for their new dynamic duet venture.
Career[edit]
In year 2006-07 he start is career as a music director and got his breakthrough with song "So High" in 2017, A gangsta beat collaboration with Sidhu Moosewala.He continued his success with singles like "Dollar", "Just Listen", "Issa Jatt", "Tochan" by Sidhu Moosewala and "Challenge" by Ninja.In August 2018 he launched his first film soundtrack, "So High", for the film Mar gaye oye loko.In October 2018, Sidhu Moosewala released his debut album "PBX 1" of Pop genre with touch of hip-hop with 3 songs of done by Byrd. The album peaked on Canadian Albums Chart by Billboard, "PBX1" won Best Album award at Brit Asia TV Music Awards 2019.[14][15] after that they also performed in USA and appeared at Park West in Brown Boys Tour and got covered by "In The Loop Magazine" in 2K19 [16]after that in year 2020 byrd give many hit albums including Brown Boys and Still Brown Boys.Now he is also collaborating with YouTube sensation Amit Bhadana.[17][18]
Controversy[edit]
In 2017 Sidhu Moose Wala had hooked up with Byg Byrd, Sunny Malton and Big Boi Deep, collectively known as Brown Boys.[19][20][21][22][23][24][25]They had produced many tracks with and for Sidhu Moose Wala.The controversy started when Byrd has posted a video teaser for the song "My Block" after which a dispute between Byrd and Gold Media, associates of Moose Wala, ensued.The Brown Boys then released an interview where they alleged Moose Wala of failing to pay money that was owed for records the Brown Boys had produced for him.After that Gold Media and Moose Wala has responded to them on Instagram multiple times abusively and start playing dirty games by adding fake dislikes on songs released from Brown Boys Record.They also tried to take down the videos with the help of fake media and reports.They do all this nonsense as Byrd and Sunny Malton, owns the "Brown Boy Record".Both the parties have their own separate legal entity and are no longer together.Sidhu and Byrd worked together in about 10 songs but he rose to fame as a solo artist and a music producer. Before working with Sidhu,Byrd and Malton already got fame in North America as music producers and artist.There has not been a settlement yet and both parties yet.[26][27][28][29]
