CADforum or CADforum.cz is an international web portal launched in 2000 by the Czech company CAD Studio (now Arkance Systems CZ) for students, hobby- and professional users of Autodesk software products. Users can create profiles, discuss, upload CAD content and access tips and utilities for their CAD, CAM and BIM software. The website has over 1 million registered users as of May 2022.[1][2] Today, CADforum is one of the first resources for CAD users searching for a CAD block, tip or utility. Despite its spartan look, there is lot of useful content.

History[edit]

In 2000 CAD Studio launched the web interface to its e-mail based local discussion forum for users of Autodesk software, plus a repository of tips and tricks for customers and for students. The site was originally launched just in the Czech language. Later the English, German and Slovak versions were added.

In 2002 the Download section has been added with freeware add-on tools for AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. Later it was extended with Revit, Civil 3D and Fusion 360 tools.

Also in 2002, the CAD/BIM blocks library has been added, with categories and keywords allowing users to lookup and download thousands of DWG blocks, models and symbols, parametric Revit RFA families and other type of 2D and 3D CAD content. Users of Autodesk software can also upload their own blocks and share their work with others.

Since 2010, more online tools has been added, e.g. the physical units converter,[3] mapping coordinates converter (GPS), 1D/2D/3D nesting tools, STL to DWG converter, barcode generator, USD file viewer, colorspace converter etc.

In 2014, CADforum had over 100.000 postings in the discussion forum.[4]

In 2022, the CADforum portal has reached 1 million registered users, over 10.000 tips and tricks, 3.500 CAD tools for download and a library of over 40.000 CAD/BIM blocks.

Autodesk Group Network[edit]

According to the Autodesk Group Network site,[5], CADforum is the largest independent community of Autodesk's products users worldwide. Most registered members come from the US, UK, India, Canada, Australia, Brazil and the Philippines. Plus of course local users from Czechia and Slovakia.

Autodesk company web site also lists CADforum as one of the recommended sites (CADforum.cz, CAD Blocks.Net, CADBlocks Free, Fastrack CAD, CADdetails) for getting CAD blocks.[6]
