CEQUENS is a global communications platform as a service (CPaaS) and software as a service (SaaS) company.[1] It is incorporated in Cairo, Egypt and is headquartered in Dubai, UAE.
History
CEQUENS was founded by Karim Khorshed (CEO) and Ahmed Shabrawy (Chief Research & Innovation Officer) in January 2011 in Cairo, Egypt.[2][3][4] In 2014, CEQUENS launched SMS APIs and secured its first global account. In February 2016, CEQUENS acquired Vytru/FlipDock, a UCaaS provider. Later, in April of the same year, EgyptNetwork merged with CEQUENS, a software development company.[5][6][7]
By 2018, the company introduced CEQUENS Number Lookup API, TrueNorth SMS Gateway, and CEQUENS Campaigns, establishing direct connections with over 100 carriers.[8][9] In 2020, CEQUENS partnered with WhatsApp, launched a web widget, and released four new products. In 2023, CEQUENS partnered with Mastercard to provide biometric authentication solutions for the BFSI sector.[10] In 2024, the company was listed on Juniper Research's A2P Messaging Leadership Board,[2] included in ROCCO's "AI Strategies Application Report.[11][12] By 2024,CEQUENS established 12 new carrier connections and entered three hub agreements, expanding its reach to cover 100% of global GSM mobile subscribers,[13] partnered with Amazon,[14] and launched the AI Agent and OmniLink platform.[15]
Operations
CEQUENS employs over 2,300 people in the Pan-Arab region and provides customer engagement tools, communication APIs, authentication solutions, a GenAI platform, TrueNorth SMS Gateway, and Microsoft Teams Enterprise Voice.[16]
