Calinix is a free and open-source Linux distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system. We make products that give you a beautiful interface, a powerful and quick-to-work-in professional desktop and tools you can work on smoothly. We believe that when you are on your keyboard, you get more efficiency and comfortability to work. If you are among those, Calinix is making products for your kind. Calinix Team even believes in speed, so we deliver applications which are fast, even on low end hardware, as your hardware shouldn't decide your workflow. Calinix aims to give you power, speed and beauty combined as a single distribution. It features a rolling release model with the latest and greatest software. Calinix is an ideal distro targetted to intermediate and advanced linux users. It comes with the AwesomeWM desktop, with a preconfigured look that looks like MacOS to a large extent. As it uses a WM, it's pretty keyboard centric. And is made for the so called linux "power user". Mostly everything can be done straight from the keyboard, but Calinix in the case provides GUI Alternatives to its Terminal Applications too. This makes Calinix a good choice for the slightly intermediate user to enter the world of Window Managers. The term Calinix, was originated from the thought of California+Unix. Its like the beauty of California combined in the distribution. Calinix is developed in India by Calinix Team

Relation to Arch Linux[edit]
The main difference compared to Arch Linux is the repositories.
CalinixOS uses the following repositories:
- Arch Linux Repositories: The default core, extra, community and multilib repositories of Vanilla Arch Linux.
- Chaotic-AUR: chaotic-aur is a unofficial user repo that has prebuilt binaries from the AUR.
- Arcolinux Repositories: Calinix uses the arcolinux-3party and arcolinux-xlarge repositories which contain various software from the AUR, pre packaged.
- Calinix: Finally, our own repositories with all our configuration packages, dependencies, software etc. It's hosted on GitHub
