Camaldın necropolises

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Camaldın necropolis I (also, Camaldin, Jamaldin and Dzhamaldin) an archeological site of antiquity in the plain area, south of the village of the same name (see,Camaldın in Julfa District.[1]

  • It was discovered in 1989 during construction work.
  • As a result of exploratory research, three clay and one glass vessels were found in the destroyed pit graves.
  • The upper part of the Jar burial tombs and the skeletons there were completely destroyed.
  • The tombs, covered with large boulders, were facing south and southwest.
  • During the search, a stone box-type grave was found in Camaldın necropolis.
  • The tomb contained a skeleton with its head facing south-west and its right side folded.
  • A bronze ring was found on one of the fingers of the skeleton, and many nectarines and carnelian beads were found on the neck, and large shells were found on top of each other on the top of the skull.

Camaldın necropolis II A medieval age archeological site on an elongated hill in the northeast of the village of the same name in the Julfa district. [2]The tombs are rectangular in shape, facing west-east. Most of the headstones are preserved and covered with stone piles. As a result of the search, baked bricks of different sizes and fragments of pink unglazed clay pots were found. According to locals, the cemetery used to have many ram and stone statues. According to the findings, the monument is believed to date back to the 14th-18th centuries.[3]
