Catie Offerman (born January 6, 1994), is a Country music artist signed to Universal Music Group Nashville’s MCA Records.[1]. Born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas, Offerman grew up on a horse ranch where she was home-schooled by her father. Offerman gravitated towards music at a young age, starting with learning piano, which led to her being classically trained in other instruments including guitar, fiddle, and accordion. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music[2] at the young age of 19, Offerman landed in Nashville, where she is also signed to Universal Music Publishing Group[3]. Offerman released her first song, “Happyland Trailer Park,”[4][5] in 2022.
Early life
Originally from New Braunfels, Texas, Offerman grew up on a horse ranch. Home-schooled by her father in the tack room of their barn, she gravitated towards music at a young age. Offerman started playing piano at the age of four, which eventually led her to pursue other instruments such as fiddle and accordion, and she was classically trained on every instrument that she played.
Her accordion teacher played in a duo and when his partner quit, he offered the gig to Offerman. She was 11, and she said it opened "a new world of possibilities." A few months later, the same teacher invited her to join his polka band. The group played polka festivals for several years, but by the time she was 14, the fiddle was her primary instrument. She had added a few others along the way, including mandolin, and she was ready to branch out into other styles of music. Offerman started Texas swing fiddle lessons with Ray Price[6]'s fiddle player Bobby Flores and joined his Western swing band. She stayed with the group for several years but wanted to be more than a player, so she started writing songs and playing shows independently.
Offerman was a mere 16 years old when she moved to Boston with her dad to attend Berklee School of Music on a scholarship. She graduated in three years. Offerman then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a possible television opportunity and realized her heart wasn't in it. She jumped back into songwriting and traveled through Sweden and Denmark, writing songs and honing her craft. The fresh music helped her land an offer for an L.A.-based record deal that she declined. It was the catalyst that got her to Nashville where she moved and started writing again. Within two years, she signed her publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.
