Chelbridge are a fictional football team in the Bristish comic universe. The team have appeared in the We Are United strip of Champ (1984-86) and also in other strips of D.C. Thomson comics. The club’s name was a direct reference to Chelsea FC.
History
Chelbridge is described in Champ as one of the ‘’Sleeping Giants’’ of English football. The club had its glory days in the 1940s and 1950s when they won 3 league titles and 2 FA Cups. They dropped to Division 2 in the early 1960s and have been unable to get back up ever since. As of 83/84 they were a second division club.
