Chris Olson (born Christopher Olson, 8 February 1988) is a British singer-songwriter, whose largely acoustic body of work has its roots in folk. Born in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England, he moved at the age of four to Calne, Wiltshire, where he grew up. He currently resides in Kent.
Early life[edit]
Olson learned keyboard and guitar and started writing songs when he was 14. His earliest performing experience was as lead guitarist in a local folk music band. Olson moved to Plymouth in 2006 to attend University of Plymouth where he studied American history and popular culture.[1] He began playing open-mic nights at local clubs, recording his debut solo E.P. "For Emma" in 2009.
Career[edit]
Olson graduated from college in June 2009 (earning a degree in American Studies with Popular Culture) and commenced performing full-time.
In 2022, Olson released a new single "Dirty Summer" that saw him step away from his Acoustic Music roots and into something leaning more towards British_folk_rock.
Olson earned a place in the Tinnitist Comin' In Hot! series with his song Dirty Summer.[2] Dirty Summer received a number of positive reviews in popular music publications, with TunedLoud! calling it "clever, outspoken, and at times very catchy.".[3] Daily Music Spin called the song "catchy", "infectious", and said "takes cues from Alternative Country".[4] The music blog Tunepical called the song "one authentic masterpiece".[5] Certified Bop called it a "surreal listening experience".[6]
In an interview with Indiefferential, Olson said his music influences included Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41, and Oasis_(band).[7] Olson continues to grow his social media presence and music career, with regular radio play for his songs.[8]
