Colin Teichholtz is an American hedge fund manager. He has worked as a portfolio manager and trader for Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Pine River Capital Management. He is currently a member of the US Treasury Department’s Office of Financial Research Advisory Committee.
Early life[edit]
Colin Teichholtz was born and raised in Boston, MA, and graduated from Harvard University in 1992[1] with an AB cum laude in Economics.[2]
Career[edit]
Teichholtz worked at Goldman Sachs from 1992 to 2003. While at Goldman, he worked as a trader of mortgage-backed securities and emerging markets debt, and then shifted to Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he was a portfolio manager. Teichholtz left Goldman to become a portfolio manager at the hedge fund Caxton Associates. In 2003 he moved to Morgan Stanley, where he was in charge of the mortage pass-through trading business and then also ran the US government bond, interest rate swap, and Agency debenture trading desks until 2011.[1]
Following this, Teichholtz joined Pine River Capital Management as a partner, and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.[3] In 2016 he was named the co-portfolio manager of the Pine River Fund,[4] which managed about $3.6 billion,[5] and while at Pine River he also served as its head of Pine River Customized Investment Solutions. Teichholtz remained with the firm until October 2017.[3]
Until 2011 Teichholtz was also the Treasurer at the not-for-profit Project Explorer,[1] and he has been a board member and has organized fund raising events for the non-profit Good Shepherd Services in New York.[6] Teichholtz also serves on the US Treasury Department’s Office of Financial Research Advisory Committee.[7]
Personal life[edit]
Colin Teichholtz is married to Stella Um, with whom he has two children.[1] He has spoken at international events including the World Economic Forum.[8]
