Comoros

Spain

Comoros–Spain relations are the bilateral and diplomatic relations between these two countries. Comoros does not have an embassy in Spain, but its embassy in Paris, France, is accredited to Spain.[1] Spain does not have an embassy in Comoros but its embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.[2]

Diplomatic relations[edit]

Spain established diplomatic relations with Comoros on March 1 of 1983. The Spanish Embassy near the Comoros Union is located in Pretoria, South Africa, while the Embassy of the Comoros Union accredited to Spain is in Paris.[3]

Economic relations[edit]

Spain's economic presence in Comoros is mainly oriented towards its tuna fleet in the Indian Ocean, which benefits from the fisheries agreement with the EU, whose protocol has been renewed.[4]

In Comoros, tourism is seen as a sector with great possibilities to develop, a sector in which there are important possibilities for Spanish hotel companies already present in the region. The same can be said of the hydrocarbons sector, once the existence, as in the case of its neighbors, of oil and gas is verified.[4]

Cooperation[edit]

Although Comoros is not a priority or preferential country within the Master Plan of Spanish cooperation, Spain is present in the cooperation efforts through which the European Union carries out.[5]
