Constant Okello-Obura (born 30 December 1968) is a Ugandan librarian and professor known for his contributions to the field of library science and information studies. He is associated with Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, where he has made substantial research contributions.[1][2][3]

Early life and education[edit]

Constant Okello-Obura was born in Dokolo District in Northern Uganda. In 1975 to 1984, Constant went to Kachung Primary School, in Dokolo where attained his Primary Leaving Examination Certificate (PLE). In 1985 to 1988, he went to Dr. Obote College Boroboro Lira for his Uganda Certificate of Education(UCE) and he was at the same school for his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education(UACE). In 1991- Jan 1995, he joined Makerere University Kampala for his Bachelors in Library Information Science(BLIS) and a MSc. of information Science (Info. Sc) 2004-2007 University of South Africa, Pretoria Doctor of Literature and Philosophy (Inf. Science).[4]

Career[edit]

In 1989-May 1989, Okello was at Kachung Primary School Vacation Teacher as a Teacher of Mathematics before joining Buddo Senior Sec. Sch. Part time teacher- Teacher of Maths between 1993-1995 and was also Director of Studies (DOS). In May 1995- Nov 2001, he joined Makerere University as a Library Librarian II and was made Assist Head Librarian in administration. In Nov. 2001 to September 2007 - EASLIS, Makerere University Assistant Lecturer. [4]

Okello-Obura's career has been closely tied to Makerere University, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing library science and information studies. He has held academic and administrative positions within the university's library system.
