ConsumerTrack Inc. is an Internet Marketing firm based in Los Angeles, California. It owns and manages finance, credit, insurance and travel brands.[1]
ConsumerTrack's business model is designed to allow customers to "hedge their risks",[2] because they are only charged for qualified customer acquisition.
History[edit]
Brett Rossmann and Jeff Bartlett founded ConsumerTrack in 2004 as an online marketing firm providing large financial companies with customer acquisition strategies. In 2007, ConsumerTrack ventured into the consumer credit vertical and GoFreeCredit.com was launched later that year. The website offers users a free credit report and score with a 30-day free trial of credit monitoring service.[3]
In 2008, GoBankingRates.com was launched as a resource for US consumers to learn more about banking, interest rates and personal finance. Content and interest rate studies from GoBankingRates.com have been used by Yahoo! Finance, MarketWatch and U.S. News and World Report.[4][5][6] ConsumerTrack’s website became a member of the Better Business Bureau Online in February 2008.[7] As of June 2010, their BBB rating was upgraded to an A.[8]
ConsumerTrack participated in a large domain sale, acquiring the primary address USBankingRates.com and approximately 600 geo-targeted versions of the URL. In 2014 both ConsumerTrack.com and GoBankingRates.com underwent a redesign that included upgrades to web2.0 and mobile platforms.[9][10] The company has been in business for over ten years and has evolved through the years into a multi-faceted marketing agency.[11] Today, ConsumerTrack, Inc.'s online network includes GoBankingRates.com as well as GoFreeCredit.com, GoInsuranceRates.com, GoDebtHelp.com, and ImportantScore.com. The online network attracts over 2 million unique visits each month.[12]
ConsumerTrack’s founders established the company headquarters in Los Angeles, CA, without venture capital or any outside investors. The company now maintains offices in Pennsylvania and New York and remains a privately owned company with revenue upwards of $30M.[13] Experiencing high growth, ConsumerTrack is projected to double its team and its revenue over the next year.[14]
Products and Services[edit]
ConsumerTrack aggregates rate information from over 1,000 finance institutions on more than 100 products. With coverage for 600 local markets, ConsumerTrack generates rate tables capturing millions of pieces of information daily. ConsumerTrack develops and provides web services to websites with online partners. In addition, ConsumerTrack syndicates editorial content to newspapers on a daily basis.[15] ConsumerTrack's unique business model is to provide consumers with accurate and objective information to help them make informed decisions regarding finances, credit, insurance and travel. On the financial institutions' side, ConsumerTrack generates high quality customers as a way to offset the costs of their content.
ConsumerTrack employs a team of personal finance writers including, Robert Kiyosaki, Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Linda Descanso, Director at Citi,[16] Casey Bond,[17] Jennifer Calonia,[18] among others.
As of 2014, ConsumerTrack had close to 50 employees located in their headquarter office. The technology team makes up 20% of their headcount. ConsumerTrack’s employees are called ConsumerTrackers and are given activities upon joining the company that are designed to help them acclimate and assimilate into the culture.[19]
ConsumerTrack's headquarters in Los Angeles, California, is located in the Southern California Technology hot spot dubbed Silicon Beach.[20]
