"CrossFit" is the eighth episode and season finale of the first season of the American comedy television series Freelancers. The episode premiered on YouTube, on May 23, 2019.[1] The episode was written by series co-star Mallory Everton and was directed by Jed Wells.

In the episode, the group spends a day at the gym, only to become too sore to go to a gala, the following day.

Plot[edit]

After filming a commercial for Mr. Pec's (Matt Moen) weight lifting channel at his gym, Mr. Pec tells the group he can't pay them at the moment for the ad, as Mr. Gandolfini (Jeffrey Lee Blake) broke the gym's sauna earlier that morning. Mr. Pec offers the group a free day at the gym, and a free case of his own, Mr. Pec's Peck Juice, which isn't FDA approved. The group accepts the offer, as they have a gala to go to the following day.

Though warned by Mr. Pec not to work-out all day, the group refuses to listen and does exactly the opposite. They wake up the next day in their house, only to find out they slept for 21 hours, and are too sore to move. They also find out they only have 45 minutes to get to the gala. After finding out they are too paralyzed to move, they call for Mr. Gandolfini, who quickly arrives and dresses the group.

The group, now ready to go to the gala, is still unable to move. Ryan (Matt Meese) decides to yell for his grandma (Ruth Clarke) who promptly arrives and drives the group to the gala.

Production[edit]

"CrossFit" was the fourth episode written by Mallory Everton. Mallory had previously written the episodes "Video Production Company," "Love Match Supreme," and "Love Match Supreme Part 2," earlier in the season. The episode was also the second episode directed by Jed Wells, who had previously directed the episode "Circus Berserkus" earlier in the season.

Reception[edit]

As of June 15, 2020, the episode has been viewed an estimated 550,000 times on YouTube.[2]
