Digital Forensics, Research and Analytics Centre (D-FRAC) is a non-partisan and independent media organisation which focuses on fact-checking and identifying hate speech.[1] Dr. Shujaat Ali Quadri is the founder Editor. It was established to debunk fake and misleading news.[2][3] D-FRAC works as a fact checking website for the audience.[4]

D-FRAC was launched on 20 July 2021 by Dr. Shujaat Ali Quadri along with journalist Parshant Tandon. Shujaat is Ph.D in Artificial Intelligence and also share 15 years of experience in the field of Journalism. The idea of D-FRAC established to expose false news/Fake news and hate speech.[5]

Procedure[edit]

D-FRAC’s fact-checkers examine fake news spread on social media (especially on Twitter), news websites and channels. Reports attempts to explain in detail the reasons and provides data. D-FRAC use open and free tools such as Google’s reverse image search to verify fake/doctored images. They also use search engine filters to sort the results into a date, time and location. D-FRAC follows a pattern of investigative Journalism.[4]

Recently, in June 2022, D-FRAC published the story about Pakistani handles role in disinformation campaign against India after row over remarks on Prophet. The report found that more than 7,100 accounts from Pakistan tweeted #Stopinsulting_ProphetMuhammad, #boycottindianproduct etc. The story was widely published by mainstream papers and portals.[6] [7] [8]

Hijab Controversy,[9]its story about online harassment of Muslim women titled Outspoken women often trolled by Right-wing were widely shared by journalists on their official twitter profiles. Noted journalist Saba Naqvi,[10] mentioned D-FRAC, while tweeting this report[11] She said that story gives us the words used for women who speak their mind. ⁦@TwitterIndia, pls shut down accounts mentioned here. often trolled by Right-wing tweeter accounts, some female Journalists Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Rana Ayyub, Richa Chadha also shared D-FRAC story.

The Free Press Journal published a report on the D-RFAC research item with the title, Pakistan is using the digital medium to fulfill their 'wicked agenda' and defame India.[12] DRFAC broke a story widely published by Indian media ANI,[2] Navbharat Times[13], The Print[14] about Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik's 'proud' wife defames India by using fake information. Its Reports over 2022 Karnataka hijab row and the role of Pakistan Troll Army in supporting Muslim student Muskan khan have made a mentions in popular media houses like ANI News,[15]The New Indian Express [1] and Times Now[16].[17]

Its various stories about atrocities against Dalits,[18] Minority and women find regular place in the print and online media.[19] [20][21][22]
