Deepak Kashyap (born 1992, Ajmer, India) is an Indian Psychotherapist and LGBT rights activists.[1] He appeared on Satyamev Jayate, a show which focuses on sensitive social issues prevalent in India.[2]


Early Life[edit]

Deepak was born in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He did his schooling of H.S.C at Mayoor school, Ajmer and completed his Masters in Psychology of Education at University of Bristol, England, U.K. He has been formally trained in advanced programs in REBT and CBT psychotherapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York. He also attended an MBCT summer school program at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre in the University of Oxford, England.[3]

Professional Career[edit]

Deepak started his journey by conducted workshops in Dubai, the United States, and England on various projects from psychotherapy, MBCT to life skills training. In addition to his private psychotherapy practice, he is a published columnist in national newspapers and magazines, writing about issues related to sex, mental health, relationships, and emotional disturbances.

He has appeared on various national and international news channels, talk shows, and debates across television, radio and newspapers, discussing mental health and sexuality issues. He is also a part time columnist with The Times of India, where he contributes significantly on lgbt issues and is currently based at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Personal life[edit]

He is an openly gay man [4] and was in a long time relationship with his partner, Jerry Johnson, whom he met through facebook in march, 2009 and is also a human rights activist and speaker.[5]
