Dog Tag Brewing is a beer company founded and managed by the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation in Montana, the United States, 2015. The founder is Seth Jordan who is an USMC veteran. In the name of the Dog Heritage Fund, the fund is designed to provide financial support to Venus families and individuals who have sacrificed themselves in the wars in recent years. Since the establishment, Dog Tag Brewing has the mission to “provide the highest quality crafted beers that deliver a message of gratitude for the selfless sacrifice of our nation’s military”.[1]. With the charitable activities, Dog Tag Brewing intends to advocate the public to care more about fallen warriors in the United States and tell them that fallen warriors are not just nameless and faceless statistics. On the contrary, they are great Americans who use their courage to write the American stories. It is profoundly grateful to the American military families and all the activities are designed to ensure that their loved ones are not forgotten by American people and the nation through the unique can design with their hero stories, community outreach and charitable donations. To accomplish the charity work, there are three main ways conducted by Dog Tag Brewing Foundation. Firstly, Dog Tag Brewing Foundation offers Legacy Grants to support the legacy-building initiatives of Gold Star Families. Secondly, it provides free services and nonprofit consulting to ensure that the legacy projects and the families to get success over the long term. The brewery's Legacy Lager beer is the main product of the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation and was sold initially in 2016 through the Pabst Brewing Company. In 2017, the beer has been promoted to the whole country. By working with Gold Star families, Dog Tag Brewing illustrates the detailed stories on its beer cans and packages. Origin[edit]
In the United States, around 7,000 US military soldiers have sacrificed their lives in the in Afghanistan and Iraq wars in recent years. They can be regarded as the national heroes, but somehow these memorable activities are not enough to care about these men and women.[1]Dog Tag Brewing Foundation is founded to solve this problem and build legacies of America's Fallen Warriors by partnering with Gold Star Families on legacy-building initiatives in their communities. In history, pins are the foundation of the further establishment of Dog Tag Brewing.
Lapel Pin[edit]
The US Department of Defense issued two different lapel pins to members of the Venus family to show and commemorate their sacrifices to the public.[2]
Gold Star Lapel Pin[edit]
In 1947, the "Gold Star Lapel Pin" was established, which given to the widows, parents and close relatives of soldiers killed in the war. This clasp features a gold star on a purple land surrounded by laurel leaves.[2]
Next Of Kin Lapel Pin[edit]
The "Next of Kin Lapel Pin" was approved in 1973 and was awarded to active military personnel or major close relatives who died during their service in the reserve or National Guard. This pin is characterized by a gold star on a golden background surrounded by four oak branches.[2]

When dog beer was first brewed in Belgrade and Montreal, each bottle bore the name of a Venus military officer, and the practice became popular. Seth Jordan, a Marine corps veteran, founded Dog Tag Brewing in 2014. His idea was for drinkers to "read heroes" because they read the names of fallen soldiers printed on the cans. The veteran who owns and runs the brewery doesn't just share each veteran's name on their website because of the name on the box. Starting this fall, brewers will sell the brewery's traditional lagers nationwide. Dog Tag Brewing will donate the entire profit from the beer to the Dog Tag Brewing foundation, which provides benefits to charities founded or selected by the Venus family. Jordan is now President of the foundation.[2]

Dog Tag Legacy Fund is an initiative of Dog Tag Brewing Foundation which is one publicly supported and tax-exempt program to support the fallen warriors in the United States.[2]Contributions to Dog Tag Legacy Fund are tax-deductible according to the national laws.

Dog Tag Brewing Foundation has established its unique position and it targets to successfully implement its mission and charity works based on its excellent people, skills and management. This non-profit organization is run by veterans who work with the Venus family to celebrate the lives of the whole American Fallen Warriors and help people to remember their sacrifice. Based on this philosophy, Dog Tag Brewing has set its mission to provide the highest quality crafted beers that deliver a message of gratitude for the selfless sacrifice of our nation’s military.[2]Founded at the end of 2015, the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation received generous support from the public and its subsidiary Dog Tag Brewing, which donated all of its profits to the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation.[5]Within Dog Tag Brewing Foundation, its board of directors is completely integrated by veterans who have served the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq for the United States. Overall, the directors have already completed and implemented more than 40 deployments, spent over 1,600 days at sea, and led over 1,000 troops.[6]Additionally, they have experienced the loss of their loved ones in the wars when serving for the country. Unlike other charity organizations, Dog Tag Legacy Fund does not provide direct support to veterans. On the contrary, it offers help and funds to construct the Venus families after the combatants have discharged from the military, free training and consulting related professional skills after retirement.[7]The main ways Americans participate for the whole project are donations, more support means more families can build a legacy for their loved ones and participating in the “Venus Family” project that supports the existence of their community.[3]By sharing the stories of Fallen Warriors with American citizens and inspire Americans to participant in local legacy projects.
To ensure the success of its all projects, Dog Tag Legacy Fund offers a series of free services and professional consulting to other nonprofit projects started by Gold Star Families so as to build a series of legacy-building projects. In doing so, Dog Tag Legacy Fund is able to ensure its projects can achieve the long term development and bring benefits to those families over the long term. At the same time, Dog Tag Legacy Fund has also established the way to measure success in the following ways: consistent monitoring of progress toward goals; number of Legacy Grants awarded and the impact of these grants; scope of free services provided and the impact of these services; and the number of Americans inspired to support and get involved in the legacy-building initiatives that we support.[2]Until now, Dog Tag Legacy Fund has made great achievements. Gold Star Family[edit]
The military family sacrificed for serving the country is known as the "Venus family," and the Dogs Foundation will represent this title as a service mark. The Venus family had won a banner that could hang on the house during the First World War. Members of the "Venus Family" can get blue stars that can hang on the pennants that obtained through the "Venus Family" soldiers who completed the US Armed Forces' war or military mission. If the soldiers unfortunately sacrifice, the blue stars will replace the golden stars. This kind of behavior is that the military family members are proud of the action of the military to the country.[2]
Dog Tag Brewing-"Legacy lager"[edit]
Dog Tag's "Legacy Lager" is brewed from two rows of premium pale and exceptional malt, Magnum and Saaz hop and brewed from the timeless American brewer's yeast. It's a 5% ABV beer with 22 IBU and will come in a 16-ounce can in four pieces. Dog Tag utilizes a groundbreaking can printing technology to dedicate each can within a 4-pack to a different fallen warrior. Its blue and white Legacy Lager cans feature an image of the dog tag of a fallen soldier on the back.Legacy Lager is available in 26 states beginning Sept. 1, 2016 and it has been promoted to the national distribution in 2017.[3]

The 100 per cent of the profits earned by the foundation will be linked to the operation of the dog heritage fund last year. About $240 million in profits went to 24 state foundations across the country and helped 51 families complete their legacy projects. Dog Tag Brewing USES half that profit to fund gold star households. At the same time, dog beer is selling well in the United States with the slogan "every can of beer is for the dead soldier"[8]
In Aug, 2016, Dog Tag Brewing's Legacy Lager started to be distributed nationally by working with the Pabst Brewing Company. Pabst Brewing Company is American-owned Company since 1844 and it is the largest privately held brewing company in North America. The partnership with Pabst can greatly help Dog Tag Brewing to millions of Americans and expand its Legacy Lager beer market to a wider range. Gradually, more American will join Dog Tag Brewing in helping Gold Star families build the legacies of our nation's fallen military heroes.[8]
