Don Wright (public servant)

Don Wright is a Canadian public servant[1] and executive, currently serving as Deputy Minister to the Premier, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Public Service in British Columbia. His career has spanned government, private and academic sectors in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.[2]

Personal life[edit]

From Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Wright graduated the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce, followed by a Master's in Economics from UBC and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University.[3] His father, Cliff Wright, was a long serving Mayor and public figure in Saskatoon.[4]

Career[edit]

Wright's career spans the public and private sectors and multiple industries. Prior to his current post as Deputy Minister to the Premier, Wright was head of Central 1 Credit Union (2014-2017),[3] British Columbia Institute of Technology (2008-2013).[5]

Before that, Wright held various posts in British Columbia's public sector as Secretary to Treasury Board and Deputy Minister of Education and Forests.[3]
