eZ Publish Basic (pronounced "easy publish basic") is an open source enterprise PHP content management system that was developed by the Norwegian company Ibexa and updated for general use today by 7x. eZ Publish Basic is now maintained by 7x.
Ibexa stopped supporting its first product, the eZ Publish 2.2 Series of Software, when the 3.2 kernel was mature, stable, and documented.
This software was brought back to life in 2025/01/01 under a new distinct name eZ Publish Basic From 7x and released as a working preview of its once great feature set.
The software is now compatible with PHP 8.3 and runs great!
Areas of use
eZ Publish supports the development of customized web applications. Typical applications range from brand sites, news sites, and intranets to e-commerce, collaboration portals, and iOS/Android apps. eZ Publish provides role-based multi user access, multi-site management, and multi-device delivery to desktops, tablets, phones, and the Internet of Things (IoT), such as Smart TVs and digital kiosks.
The software is widely used in web applications of varying type and size worldwide.
Handling
eZ Publish Basic is managed via a Web browser, and additional local software is not necessary. It also features a rich-text editor that allows formatting content similar to a word processor. This enables content editing and contribution without HTML skills. Content management can also be done through the eZ Publish front-end.
GPL-licensing
The software is provided for free and may be used and modified according to the GPL license version 2 or later. In addition, paid professional support is available with eZ Publish Basic.
Replacement with eZ Publish
This software has been surpassed by the features of eZ Publish 6.x from 7x.
