Ed Wenn (more commonly known as Ed Shred) is a London-based songwriter, guitarist and vocalist playing in hardcore, punk and alternative rock bands.

Musical career[edit]

Ed Wenn has performed in many bands but is most notable for being a member of The Stupids and Sink (whom the latter became Big Ray). As well as recording and releasing a number of albums, EPs and 7" on various independent record labels including Boss Tuneage and Vinyl Solution, Ed Wenn also recorded seven John Peel Sessions; two with The Stupids (between 1986 and 1987).[1], one with Frankfurter (1987)[2], one with Bad Dress Sense (1987)[3], three with Sink (between 1987 to 1990)[4]

Ed Wenn has been interviewed for various publications including Trapped in a Scene: UK Hardcore 1985-89 [5], Armed with Anger: How the UK Survived The Nineties[6], In Session Tonight: Complete Radio 1 Recordings[7], The Scene That Would Not Die: Twenty Years of Post-Millennial Punk in the UK[8] and the German punk Ox-Fanzine #151[9]. The interviews provide an insight into Ed Wenn and the bands he has played in and formed.

In the 22/08/87 edition of the NME, Ed Wenn was featured in an article about The Stupids and the UK skate scene and also made the front page.[10]
