Enos Foord

Enos Foord (October 21, 1796 - April 22, 1861) was the Registrar of Deeds in Norfolk County, Massachusetts from 1821 until his death in 1861.[1][2] He was born October 21, 1796 in Milton and died April 22, 1861.[3]

He was the son of James Foord and Hannah (nee Blake) and the father of James Foord.[3] Both his father and son were Registrars of Deeds.[1][2][4] Foord was married to Elizabeth Davenport and at times they lived with their extended family.[4] He was a member of the Allin Congregational Church.[5]

He was from Dedham, Massachusetts and, prior to being elected, was a teacher and assistant in the Registry while his father was in office.[4][1] Foord taught in a private school, but one brother and four sisters[lower-alpha 1] taught in the Dedham Public Schools.[3] He was also treasurer and treasurer of the Dedham Institution for Savings.[4][3] He was an early member of the Dedham Historical Society and served as an auditor there.[6] Foord also served as an auditor of the Dedham Public Library, which he helped found.[7]
