Evan Maureen Ryan (born 1971) is an American public servant who worked as Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) from 2013 to 2017. Prior to becoming Assistant Secretary of State, she served as the assistant for intergovernmental affairs and public liaison for then-Vice President and current President-elect Joe Biden.[2]
Personal life[edit]
Ryan was born in 1971 in Alexandria, Virginia, where she grew up in a middle-class family of Irish Catholic descent.[3][4] She married government official Antony Blinken, since nominated by Biden to become Secretary of State, in a bi-denominational ceremony at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.[4][5]
