Eyes Horror and Coop Multiplayer, also referred to as Eyes - The Horror Game, is a horror game released on February 11th 2013 by Paulina Puretzka. The objective of the game is to get enough money bags (the number depends on the difficulty) to exit the location the player is playing in while being chased by a monster. To win, the player has to escape without getting caught by the monster.[1]

History[edit]

The game's initial release was on February 11th 2013 for PC. After receiving a couple of updates, the game got abandoned. Paulina Puretzka returned in 2017 to make new content for the game on a mobile version. The new mobile version had the mansion (then the only playable location) revamped [1]. It got revamped again in October 2018 [2] with the hospital following soon after in February 2019 [3]. Around that time lore was added into the game. For Halloween 2020 the game got a Nintendo Switch release.[4] In the beginning of 2023 a multiplayer mode was released.

Shop[edit]

Most of the locations, monsters and modes must be bought from the shop. It uses an in-game currency (coins) that does not cost real money, although there is an option to use money, too.

Locations[edit]

Mansion[edit]

Coming with the game's release, the mansion has three floors. The exit is on the first floor. It got revamped twice - once in 2017 and another time in 2018.[5]

Hospital[edit]

The hospital was released in July 2017 in version 5.1.1, getting revamped once in 2019. The revamped shortened the length of the first floor and connected the two basements. The hospital has three floors with the exit being on the first one. The player can drink potions to get effect that help him with completing the game.[3]

School[edit]

The school was released in May 2019 in version 6.0. The school has three floors and an exit either in lower floor or in the library. Sometimes all doors in the map will be opened for a certain amount of time (depending on the difficulty).[6]

Monsters[edit]

Beta ghost[edit]

The beta ghost was added in the first beta and existed until April 10, 2013. Fans divide the beta ghost into three categories:[7]

Juliette (Charlotte)[edit]

А white translucent ghost girl, which existed from beta versions to version 1.0.5. When Juliette notices the player, she makes a noise, which is a reversed whisper in the form of an echo, and instead of the usual inscription "RUN !!!" The screen took on a reddish tint.[7]

Misty (Jay)[edit]

Misty is a hazy, translucent ghost girl. Present in versions 1.0.6-1.0.6.1. She smokes and makes sounds similar to a vacuum cleaner when killing the main character.[7]

Murphy (Gray)[edit]

Murphy is a hazy, translucent ghost guy that was present in versions 1.0.7-1.0.9. He was the last version of the beta ghost, getting removed on April 11, 2013 (then they released an update in which the enemy was replaced with Krasue).[7]

Removal[edit]

The beta ghost was removed from the game due to a conflict between the game developer and the creator of the beta ghost model.[7]

Krasue[edit]

Originally added in April 11, 2013, in paid iOS version 1.0.10. She resembles a Southeast Asian mythological monster. She doesn't have any special powers. Native to the mansion, according to the game's lore.[8]

Charlie[edit]

Added in August 2017, in version 5.2.0 he appears as a ghost-like skeleton. His special power is to teleport around the location from pictures of him. He's native to the hospital, according to the game's lore.[9]

Good Boy[edit]

Good Boy was added in February 2018 in version 5.5.0. He resembles a dog. The player can throw meat to distract him. To compensate for that, Good Boy becomes faster when he sees the player. Native to the school, according to the game's lore.[10]

Witch[edit]

Also referred to as Ursula, she is a human-like creature that flies in a barrel and wears a witch hat. She was added for Halloween 2020 in version 6.1.12. Her special ability is that there are totems all over the location, which will force the player to stand still and get a bar with a white line spinning over it. There is a green part of the bar (which becomes narrower with a higher difficulty) that if it is hit, the player will be released. If the player misses the green part, they will get a nausea effect that slows them down.[11]

Game modes[edit]

Standard[edit]

In the standard mode there are no twists to the game play.[12]

Trick or Treat[edit]

Instead of money bags, the player has to collect candy. There is also a pumpkin that can be chased for a coin multiplier.[13]

Pixel[edit]

The screen has a much lower resolution than in the other game modes.[14]

Endless[edit]

The player can't escape from the location they are playing. Money bags and eye runes will respawn after the player has gone to another floor. The monster will get faster with time.[15]

Immersive[edit]

In this mode the interface is made invisible. The aim is to make the game harder.

Multiplayer[edit]

Multiplayer mode - a mode in which people can play online with friends (by sending them an invitation code or by entering your friend's invitation code) or with strangers. In multiplayer mode, there are two modes: "Co-op" and "Versus". In the "Co-op" mode, two players support each other: together they collect bags, eyes, report danger. The "Versus" mode is the exact opposite of the "Cooperative": players compete with each other, the winner is the one who collects all the bags and runs out of the building first. The multiplayer itself was released in beta version 6.1.147 (it was later released in open version 7.0). Multiplayer also has a chat where you can exchange phrases (before beta version 6.1.154, players could exchange emotions). You can also choose locations in multiplayer (this feature is only available in the game with friends due to low activity in multiplayer).
