Face of Beauty International (FOBI) is an international female beauty contest that is held annually with candidates from different countries and territories around the world. The main objective of the contest is to develop young female leaders from around the world in order to train them to find true beauty and become it.[1]
Over the years it has become more relevant in terms of internationally renowned beauty contests, being hosted in different countries such as Taiwan, Thailand, Mongolia, India and, more recently, in the Philippines. The winner of the title wears it for a period of about a year, adding to it, the year she won it. The current Face of Beauty International is Peerachada Khunrak from Thailand.[2]
History[edit]
The contest began to take its first steps in 2011, but it was not until 2012 that its CEO / Founder Mila Manuel registered the company Face Of Beauty International Ltd. in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. The first event that took place internationally was in that same year (2012) with the name of Miss Teen Face of Beauty International and had the participation of 14 candidates from different countries and territories of the world in the Valentine Garden Resort, of the Chiang Mai city in Thailand. Later for the following year (2013) it acquires its current name Face of Beauty International. FOBI is an exclusive world-class competition for women around the world, placing primary focus on the development of international tourism, entertainment for the general public, and the maintenance of a clean and safe environment for all living beings on the planet. The reason behind its founding was to create global leaders and give them greater opportunities to explore the world.[3][4]
The age range for the contest candidates goes from 15 to 24 years old, after which the age limit was increased, without height and weight restrictions.[5] The event promotes an end to violence against women and protection of the physical integrity of the most vulnerable; and has been described as a renowned competition that aims to develop young leaders from around the world who embody the combination of beauty and intelligence that defines the 21st century. Contestants must work on empowerment; participate in charity events, workshops, and symposia; parades in swimsuits, national costumes and evening dress competitions; additionally, they travel through the host country. Participants must show that they are intelligent, educated and cultured.[6][7]
Beauty is one of the most complex and abstract philosophical and conceptual concepts.
Beauty can be an existential characteristic in a human, animal, place, object or idea that creates a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction in others.
Kant's philosophical revolution, known as Kant's Copernican rotation, shifted the focus from beauty from object to subject. In fact, the most important difference between modern aesthetics and classical aesthetics is that in modern times, beauty was recognized as a characteristic of the mind, not as an object.
The nature of beauty is one of the most enduring and controversial themes in Western philosophy, and along with what art is, it is one of the two basic themes of philosophical aesthetics. Beauty has traditionally been considered one of the fundamental values, including goodness, truth and justice.[8]
I AM ME[edit]
In 2013 a special workshop called "I AM ME" was born, where Face of Beauty International included it within the contest's competencies from then on. I AM ME, more than a workshop or recognition, seeks that the candidates show greater participation, demonstrate their integrity and create a healthy sports and competitive environment; as well as the confidence in themselves of everything they did, within the workshop and during the development of the contest.
Along with sports day, tours, fashion shows and group activities; The I AM ME workshop involves the participation of candidates from all countries and territories in the competition, so that they further develop their confidence, skills, friendships and their ability to carry out community work on a global platform of international understanding.[9]
Teen Face of Beauty International[edit]
In 2017, the Teen Face of Beauty International category for teenagers is retaken as a second additional title that is awarded on the same night as the main event.[10]
