Family Plastics and Thermoware Pvt. Ltd. is a Private sector Indian based plastic products manufacture company located at Thiruvananthapuram Kerala.[1]
Overview[edit]
Family Plastics uses only prime grade and food grade virgin raw materials for plastic products manufacturing[2] and it's an ISO 9001:2008 certified company.[3][4]
Founder[edit]
Daniel A. Fernandez founded Family Plastics in the year 1998. He was given the Udyogpatra Award by the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development, New Delhi.[5][6]
Controversy[edit]
The company became (in)famous due to the London bombings happened on Thursday 21 July 2005, when four attempted bomb attacks disrupted part of London's public transport system. A fifth bomber dumped his device without attempting to set it off.[7][8][9] The device was packed into a six-and-a-quarter litre clear plastic food container with a white lid, manufactured by Family Plastics, sold in about 100 outlets across the UK.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
The factory was recently in the news as massive fire broke out destroying its plastic manufacturing plant and storage unit and losses to the tune of 500 crores were reported.[18][19][20] Later police arrested 2 persons for setting fire to plastic godown.[21][22][23][24]
