Fifi Garfield
Fifi Garfield is a British actor, director, producer, and presenter. She is Deaf and a British Sign Language user.
Personal life
Her twin sister is Paula Garfield, herself an actress and theatre director. She has been deaf since birth.
Activity
Garfield started acting with London Deaf Drama Group when she was 19. She has worked with, among others, Bill Nighy, Jenny Éclair, and Joe Absolom.
She has appeared in a number of productions of Deafinitely Theater, such as Contractions[1] and A Midsummer Night's Dream; Macbeth (Royal Shakespeare Company); Emma (London Bubble Theatre Company/UK Tour), as well as a production in Sign Language of Horrible Histories.[2]
Her television credits include Deaf Funny (Juggle Productions), Don't Leave Me This Way and Switch (BBC). She often appears as a presenter on BSL Zone and on BBC's deaf magazine See Hear. Garfield has appeared in commercials for BT and as a studio dancer for Smirnoff.
Her radio credits include All Fingers and Thumbs (BBC Radio 4).
In addition to her acting career, Garfield works freelance within the creative industry in a variety of roles, such as a translator from English to BSL, director, and editor.
