Isaac Erhunse Obasuyi (born 23 September 1992)[1] known as Gabana Playaz hails from Edo State, Nigeria. Gabana Playaz is a Nigerian singer, rapper, songwriter and recording artiste. He's part of the duo Playaz, His first major recognition came when he won Fresh on Beat FM artist for a month[2] and performed at the prestigious Nigeria Industry Night and gained lots of accolades. He's been involved in the development of many hit songs under Masterkraft as a songwriter and as a backup singer for Wizkid and many other artistes. Gabana Playaz has also worked with names like CDQ,[3] just to mention a few. He is well known for his creativity in Afro-pop Genre.
Early life[edit]
Gabana Playaz was born Isaac Erhunse Obasuyi on 23 July 1992 in Benin City, Edo state. He grew up in Christian household family with cousins and relatives. Gabana Playaz also known as Gabana Playaz attended Blessings Foundation Secondary School in Benin City. He grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Boys 2 Men, Majek Fashek and many more.
Career[edit]
In a radio interview with Segun Edmin of The Beat 99.9 FM in 2017, He mentioned being part of a church choir as a drummer for years, where he later started playing the guitar. Gabana Playaz went by the stage name of Nino until 2015. He met Masterkraft, a Record Producer around 2012 and then permanently relocated to Lagos same year. While working at Masterkraft Studios he joined Wizkid’s band as a back-up singer for 6 months[4] and He was also present during the recording sessions for Flavour N'abania’s album Blessed, He cited Flavour as one of the people who coached him.
He has also worked with big industry giants including CDQ,[5] Pepenazi while developing his craft , he dropped out of Delta State University DELSU, Abraka On relocating to Lagos. While speaking with the sun newspapers he pointed out that his uniqueness prepared him for a global stage[6]
