George William Icke (born in November 2002) is a British radio presenter and reporter aswell as a print journalist. He currently presents 'The Big Breakfast' on Embrace Radio in Northamptonshire. Icke first began his broadcasting in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire on 103 The Eye. In 2020, George began writing as a reporter for JPIMedia's newspaper based in Melton Mowbray, The Melton Times. He covered events such as the controversial but traditional New Years Day Hunt Meet on The Melton Town Estate.[1]

George Icke attended primary school in Nottinghamshire, while attending secondary school and sixth form in Leicestershire.

University[edit]

Icke is currently a student at The University of Salford in Greater Manchester where he studies Broadcast Journalism at their MediaCityUK campus with neighbours at the BBC and ITV where George has already created a presence at ITV Entertainment, being hired as a production runner for 2022's series of The Voice UK & The Voice Kids.[2] He also works for the university in their marketing department to engage with alumni and former graduates from Salford. In May 2020 he won an award and was named as the winner of the 1st Year Broadcast Journalism Award judged by an industry panel from Newsquest Papers and ITV.


Early Career[edit]

George first began broadcasting on 103 The Eye in December 2018[3], and subsequently has appeared all over the stations schedule. He covered shows regularly during the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020[4]. He worked alongside broadcasters such as Steve Hack, Marie Quinn, Paul Stuart & Jonathan McGrady. He was nominated for a Best of Melton Award for his voluntary work on the station. [5]

Also a keen equestrian himself, Icke has commentated on a volume of events at Vale View Equestrian. Some of his more notable events included the British Dressage Premier League and High Profile Shows where his commentary was featured on Sky channel Horse & Country TV.

Icke wrote for The Melton Times regularly throughout 2020, 2021 & 2022 with articles including the murder of Clair Ablewhite.[6]

George Icke joined Embrace Radio in 2019 and presented their Friday Night Show for some 6 months. Icke left the station in Summer 2020, and didn't return until February 2022 when he appeared back on their schedules for the stations launch. He presents their 'Big Breakfast' programme Monday - Thursday from 7 AM[7].

Icke can also be heard as a swing jock on Asian Star Radio [8]and formerly Peak Radio, Derbyshire run by Andrew Haslam before the station ceased broadcasting in 2022. He occasionally appears on other stations as a journalist to give comment on a story including TalkRadio and LBC.

George also writes for a news website based in Melton Mowbray called NEMM run by a local resident.[9]
