Haruna Isa Dederi was born in Nigeria on 25th December, 1960. He hails from Dederi Town, Karaye Local Government Area, Kano State. He attended Dederi Primary School (1971-1978), where he received the Primary School Leaving Certificate. He attended Federal Government College, Minna, Niger State (1978-1983), where he received the General Certificate of Education (GCE). He attended the famous School of General Studies, which was under Bayero University, Kano (1983-1984) for his post-secondary education. He attended Bayero University, Kano (1984-1988), where he bagged his first degree in Law (LL.B). He attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos (1988-1989), after which he was called to Bar as Barrister at Law and Solicitor (L.B). He received the Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) from Bayero University, Kano (2003-2005). He is a Fellow Member of the Nigerian Legal Society (FNLS). He holds United Nations’ prestigious award of Justice of Peace – JP (2020-to-date). He is recipient of award of Leadership Excellence from the Kano State Social Media Group. The cardinal rationale behind his decision to join partisan politics was merely his unflinching penchant to serve his community (Karaye/Rogo), state (Kano) and fatherland (Nigeria). Upon joining active politics; he was elected the Executive Chairman of Karaye Local Government Council, Kano State (1997-1998) as the first political office he has held. He was appointed Secretary cum Legal Adviser to Kano State Investments and Properties Limited – KSIP (2000-2001). He was appointed Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party – ANPP, Kano State Chapter (2003-2005). Likewise, he served as National Legal Adviser to the ANPP (2005-2007). He served as Honourable Commissioner of Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, Kano State (2007-2011). He took a political stint and went back to his private legal practice (2012-2015). He was appointed Commissioner (I), Kano State Law Reform Commission (2015-2019). He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is currently serving as Member, representing Karaye/Rogo Federal Constituency, Kano State, at the National Assembly (2019 –to-date), where he doubles as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Federal Judiciary. He is Fellow Member, Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (FCIPDM).
