Haji Ghulam Haider Khan Khichi (Urdu: حاجی غلام حیدر خان کھچی) was a Pakistani politician from Vehari District who was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab for five consecutive terms between 1985 and 1997..[1][2][3][4][5]. He also served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Law in the first provincial cabinet of Nawaz Sharif from 1985 to 1988[1], and as an Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1988 to 1990[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Ghulam Haider was born around mid-1950s to Khan Ahmad Khan Khichi, a local feudal lord and Pakistani landowner from the Sargana village in the Mailsi tehsil. He received his higher education at Sadiq Public School Bahawalpur.

He married in 1972 and had four children, including his son Tahir Haider Khan Khichi. Ghulam Haider passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest in 1997.[6]

Political career[edit]

Elections[edit]

Ghulam Haider Khan Khichi contested the general elections five times between the years 1985 and 1997 and was elected each time. Following his premature death in 1997, his uncle Haji Mehmood Khan Khichi was elected in the by-elections held in December 1997 in his constituency.[6]

Role in the provincial government[edit]

Ghulam Haider Khan Khichi was a Parliamentary Secretary from 1985 to 1988, and an Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1988 to 1990.[1][2]

He also served as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for the years 1987-88[12]
