Four pillars |
The Hariyo Party (Nepali: हरियो पार्टी) is a green party in Nepal. The party's ideology combines environmentalism with social-democratic economic policies and is based on the four pillars of green politics: ecological wisdom, social justice, grassroots democracy, and nonviolence.
Objectives
The primary objective of the Hariyo Party is to completely eradicate firewood chulos and gas chulos in Nepal and replace them with an electric chulo initiative. This initiative aims to make rural Nepali citizens free of dangerous smoking firewood chulos, which are still being used by 44 percent of the population, and LPG gas chulos in urban areas used by the remaining 56 percent of citizens. The goal is to make cooking fully green, thus reducing the carbon footprint and improving the Human Development Index (HDI).
